In Awe
A couple weeks ago, I was walking with a friend and mentioned how often I more from point A to point B with my eyes pointed down – I’m always on the lookout for things that can trip me up or get in my way. But when I lift up my head, when I look at all the things around me, I cannot help but marvel at the wonders all around.
I have found that the same is true for prayer. All too often my gaze is pointed down at the page because I am afraid of tripping on my words or having something distract me from my intended course, not appreciating the prayers that are all around me.
But today, we are in a different space.
Today, we are in a room dedicated to prayers of faith, forgiveness, gratitude, repentance…
Today I encourage you to lift up your eyes, to worry less about tripping and take in the prayers around you, whether they be spoken, written or drawn.
